President Obama spoke to a crowd in Lions Park on September 13, just minutes from the Mines campus. The event took place a few hours before a Romney campaign event a half-mile away in downtown Golden headlined by Mitt Romney’s son, Josh. According to his campaign staff, the President’s visit was the first time a sitting president had visited Golden since Ulysses S. Grant.
