Story Leads
Mines depends on story tips from the community. Please help us deliver the most interesting content by providing information on upcoming stories we are working on, or by suggesting something you’d like us to investigate.
There are two stories we are currently needing help with for the Spring and Summer 2012 issues:
Mineral discoveries: We feel certain that there are quite a few Colorado School of Mines alumni who have been involved in the discovery of some interesting and significant mineral deposits. We have two individuals we plan on covering in a story, but are seeking some more. If you, or someone you know has a compelling story, please write and tell us about it, including names and contact information for the individual concerned. We will get back in touch with you, and we’ll then get in touch with the subject to ask permission.
Mines’ World War II veterans: December 7, 2011 saw the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor and the U.S. entering WW II. While all too many Mines alumni who fought in WW II are no longer with us, we’d like to mark this anniversary by collecting and sharing a few war stories from or about alumni who saw action. If you know of a compelling story of an alum who served in WWII, or that description applies to you, please write to us with details. If the person is deceased, we’d still like to hear their story. (Yes, Col. Fertig is definitely on our radar.)
If you have information on the stories listed above, please email us at magazine@mines.edu, or call Amie Chitwood, managing editor, at 303.384.2529. We appreciate your help.
