Lunar Outpost, a startup created by PhD student Justin Cyrus MS ’16, developed a lunar prospector that can collect and analyze soil samples to better understand the resources available on the Moon. The Lunar Outpost team works collaboratively with the Center for Space Resources and is tapping into the direct pipeline of Mines expertise by hiring students from all disciplines and getting support from other researchers on campus. Check out the video below to see the prospector in action and learn more about the multidisciplinary collaboration that’s driving cutting-edge space research at Mines.
